I chose to respond to an article at the Aurora Sentinel and so far they have refused to allow it. The comments are moderated and have to be approved before being posted. It has been over 24 hours so I will post my response here in its entirety.
We can agree that economic growth is weak. We can agree that family incomes are falling along with house values. We can agree that many Aurora families are making heroic efforts to survive. The last thing we need is another escalating tax increase right now.
A vote yes for the separate Aurora Library Taxing District will result in your Aurora property taxes increasing a minimum of 40% (4.29 mills based on 2008 valuations) in monies paid to the city for city services.
